It is with heavy hearts and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Matriarch Yunes Moraa Sese Ogero, a devoted mother, pillar of faith, and respected community elder. Gogo Yunes peacefully went to be with the Lord on August 30, 2026, at the age of 87. Born in 1939 to the late Atera Mireri and Rebecca Moraa, her long and purposeful life was defined by selfless service, hard work, and deep spiritual conviction.

Family & Legacy

In 1955, Yunes was united in marriage with John Ogero Maronga. Together, they built a strong, loving home and were blessed with nine children: the late Moses Geke, Joyce Monchari, Chief Agwata, the late Grace Kemunto, Gladys Nyakerario, Esther Mokeira, Jones Maronga, George Morara, and James Obobe. She was a loving mother-in-law, a supportive co-wife to Agnes Moruri, and a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother to many

Life & Ministry

A hardworking peasant farmer of tea and pyrethrum as well as a dedicated livestock keeper, Yunes instilled the values of integrity, dignity of labor, and academic pursuit in her family. As a faithful Deaconess at Motagara and Mariba SDA Churches, she served actively in arbitration, Sabbath School teaching, Children’s Ministry, and evangelism, anchoring her community in Christian love.

Interment Details

The burial service and final interment took place on Friday, September 11, 2026, following a service at Mariba Primary School, before she was laid to rest at her homestead in Motagara, Mariba Village.
