It is with deep sadness and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Mwalimu Daniel Abuga Nyatigo, a dedicated teacher, entrepreneur, community leader, and family patriarch, who went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 23, 2026. Born in 1958 at Ibucha Village, Girango, Nyamira County, to the late Nyatigo Onyancha and the late Pacificah Kemunto, Mwalimu Abuga lived a life defined by wisdom, hard work, discipline, and devotion to his family.
Education & Professional Career
Mwalimu Abuga began his early education in the early 1960s before joining Migori Teachers Training College, where he qualified as a professional teacher. Employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), he served until 1992, when he transitioned to educational entrepreneurship, co-owning and running several private schools. He continued teaching in private institutions until his retirement in 2015. Driven by a deep passion for community service, he later engaged in local leadership, commercial farming, and the transport sector.
Family & Personal Life
In 1976, Mwalimu Abuga was united in holy matrimony with his late wife, Milkah Bosibori Kiboma. He was a loving father to Merolyn Moraa, Philemon Nyatigo, Michael Marwanga, Dorothy Mosiara, Bonvic Nyamwario, and Daisy Kemunto. He was also a cherished father-in-law, brother, uncle, and a doting grandfather to Velji, Osteen, Harvey, Ewen, and Crystal. An avid lover of Rhumba music, current affairs, and scripture, he anchored his family in resilience, faith, and quiet strength.
